Richie Valles is the youngest of 13 children. His father, Jesse, owned an upholstery shop in Burbank, CA, where Richie and his siblings helped out in the family business. Richie learned his craft alongside his father and brothers, restoring and fixing cars from a very early age. His older brothers were building Kustoms and Lowriders, and Richie recalls being fascinated by the sparkling and intricate paint jobs that were being produced. From six years of age to the present, Richie has been gracing his car canvasses with his own unique custom brand of paint and design.
In the last 30 years, Richie has steadily been gaining coverage with his work in Hot Rod Magazine, Car Culture Deluxe, Customs Rods, Lowrider, West Coast Choppers Catalogue, Hot Bikes, Easy Rider Calendar, and the West Coast Kustoms Calendar. In February 2009, the collectable and highly coveted quarterly magazine, The Rodder's Journal and Steve Coonan, did a voluminous story on Richie's work.
Richie's history of awards is constant. Awards he has won include Full Radical Custom for his 50 Chevy and Full 60's Custom at GNRS. He is a five-time winner at Fresno Autorama, has received various awards at West Coast Kustoms, awards at Barris' Culver City Show, and many other Awards.
Most recently, Richie and his team were on Car Warriors on the Speed Channel. They built a 1992 Fox Body Mustang and won the build off and the vehicle. Richie has also been featured in nine episodes of WebRidesTV, where different cars and his shop were featured.
